A new champion will be crowned at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Following the announcement by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis that the Women’s US Title would be introduced following a tournament, matches have taken place over the past few weeks. The semi-finals took place on the December 13th episode of SmackDown. In the opening match of the show, Michin defeated Miss Money in the Bank to advance to the NBC special the following night.
Later in the night, Chelsea Green defeated Bayley in the final match of the show to also book her place in the final. Green has been a firm fan favourite to become the inaugural champion ever since the tournament began. Green and Michin will face off on December 14th.
What Else Has Been Announced For WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event?
Five matches have been announced for the returning special, 4 of which will have championship implications. The updated line-up for Saturday Night’s Main Event is as follows:
- Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens – Singles match for the WWE Undisputed Championship
- Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky – Singles match for the Women’s World Championship
- Chelsea Green vs. Michin– Singles match to crown the first ever Women’s United States Champion
- Gunther (c) vs. Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest – Triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Judgment Day are banned from ringside
- Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre
