Will Ospreay is going to Wembley Stadium and will challenge for the top prize in AEW.
Competing in the main event of Forbidden Door, Ospreay defeated Swerve Strickland to win the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Along with winning the tournament and the commemorative championship, Ospreay will fight for the World Championship at All In on August 30. The match will take place inside Wembley Stadium, just a short drive from Ospreay’s hometown of Essex.
The bloody bout saw Ospreay hit the Paradign Shift, Death Rider and Tiger Driver to put Strickland down for the 3 count. Prior to the finish, The Deathriders made their way to ringside to cheer on Ospreay and fire him up for the finish. Ospreay defeated Samoa Joe and Mark Davis in his journey to the finals, while Swerve beat Bandido and Claudio Castagnoli.
Ospreay now has a guaranteed match against the World Champion at All In. The current champion is MJF, but he will have to put his title on the line on the next episode of Dynamite. MJF’s team lost the steel cage match to Team Mark Briscoe, meaning that Briscoe is next in line for a title match. Ospreay made it to the final of the 2025 tournament, but lost to Adam Page.
Earlier in the night, Mercedes Mone won the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament. Mone is also the first wrestler to win the tournament 2 years in a row.
Will Ospreay Looking To Keep Wembley Streak Alive
This will be the British star’s third appearance inside Wembley Stadium. In 2023, Ospreay defeated Chris Jericho in an exhibition match as Ospreay was still under contract with New Japan at this point. The following year, Ospreay defeated MJF to win the International Championship.
With Wembley being the home of English football, Ospreay is hoping for a hat-trick of wins inside the stadium.
