Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet will take place on AEW TV in a matter of weeks!
At All In, Ricochet officially became All Elite when he made his surprise entrance into the Casino Gauntlet match inside Wembley Stadium. With Ricochet now a member of the AEW roster, there are a number of first-time-ever matches at the high-flyer’s disposal. However, while this is the case, the match that everyone wants to see is Ricochet vs. Ospreay once more. Meeting face to face once again on the September 18th episode of AEW Dynamie, the match was made official for the following month.
Shortly after Ricochet defeated The Beast Mortos, the high-flyer spoke with Ospreay and wished him luck in his tag team title match at Grand Slam the following week before revealing that he would face the British star the following week on October 2nd, which is also the 5th anniversary of the premiere episode of Dynamite going on air.
Ospreay and Ricochet have faced each other in multiple promotions including Rev Pro, PWG, New Japan and WCPW. Known for having great chemistry, many are anticipating something special when the former rivals meet once more. Of their previous 9 singles matches, Ricochet has won 4 and Ospreay has won 5.
Will Ospreay Discusses Another Dream Match
The match will be the latest in a series of high-profile opponents for the International Champion and could be in contention for match of the year, much like Ospreay’s encounter with Bryan Danielson back at Dynasty. Speaking with Inside The Ropes about the match, Ospreay said that it very much lived up to his expectations:
“Yeah, 100% met my expectations. The moment we were in the ring they started saying ‘Holy s—t.’ I know what’s a good match and what’s not. All I gotta do is close my eyes and just listen to the audience, and they were enjoying every single minute of it. Getting to come backstage was just one of those incredible moments. You ever see Avengers: Endgame where Iron Man sits down and he’s dying, and she goes, “you can rest now.” It was an incredible moment and then here comes another Iron Man film.”
