Upcoming episodes of WWE Raw and SmackDown are set to be pre-taped ahead of time despite the fact that there is no public holiday coming up.
Following the acquisition of WWE by TKO, the talent and staff have been given extended breaks for national holidays such as 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. However, on August 24 and 28, there will be a double taping taking place in each of the venues. The August 24 show will see SmackDown taped directly after Raw, which will air the following Friday. On the 28th, the following week’s Raw and SmackDown will also be pre-taped.
As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the reason for the tapings is to give the stars and staff time off before the upcoming tour of Mexico and South America. As well as SmackDown and Raw set to air live from Mexico City on September 11 and 14, respectively, live events are scheduled in Ecuador and Colombia,
The September 14 show will see a luchador challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship. The tournament will continue on the August 24 Raw.
WWE Previously Pre-Taped SmackDown For Overseas Show – Raw Aired Live
The promotion previously taped an episode of SmackDown in London back in June. A live episode of Raw took place on June 22, followed by the taped SmackDown the following night, which aired on the 26th. The reason for the taping was to give the crew ample time to travel to Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions.
