Why R-Truth And Carlito Are Leaving WWE

More information has been provided on the shock departures of R-Truth and Carlito from WWE.

Wrestling fans were stunned on June 1st when Truth announced that his time in WWE was coming to an end very soon, as his contract would not be renewed. One of the most likeable and popular stars among fans and wrestlers, there was an outpouring of support for the former United States Champion online along with many calling out WWE for the decision, as Truth always received a great reaction and was reportedly a strong merch seller.

Later that day, Carlito also announced that his contract would not be renewed, leading to many once again sending their well wishes for the former Intercontinental Champion. In an update by Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, it was noted that when there are NXT call-ups, then inevitably, some from the main roster will be cut. In terms of the choice to cut Truth and Carlito, Meltzer also adds that the older stars are the most at risk:

Regarding the departures of Carlito and R-Truth, which are contracts expiring and not being renewed, ultimately when there are additions coming from NXT, there will be subtractions. Older undercard guys or guys not being used are always the ones at the most risk. With R-Truth, I could see him getting a ton of indie work and TNA, maybe even AAA. But if he wants to continue, he’ll have plenty of opportunities. Carlito knows the indie scene and worked on it for years. It is interesting the number of WWE folks who had so much positive to say about R-Truth compared to most who get cut.

R-Truth is 53 and Carlito is 46.

What’s Next For R-Truth And Carlito?

Although there has been no official announcement at the time of writing, Carlito is expected to return to WWC in Puerto Rico as he recently won the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship for a second time. It is unknown what is next for Truth in wrestling, but the 54-time 24/7 Champion recently released the first single for his upcoming country album.
