Carlito is the latest member of the WWE roster set to depart the company soon.
After Mike Johnson of PWInsider first reported he news that The Judgment Day member would leave the company when his contract expired, Carlito confirmed the news was true on social media, jokingly adding that the reason for his exit was that he had stolen money from the promotion:
My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed. On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently “stealing money” from the company. I’ve had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money😳
All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho!
PS…I’ll reappear again in another 13yrs
Dios me los bendiga!
The former United States and Intercontinental Champion returned to WWE full-time at Backlash 2023 after first making a cameo appearance at the 2021 Royal Rumble. First, aligning himself with the LWO, Carlito later turned heel and joined The Judgment Day.
The Raw star recently returned to Puerto Rican promotion WWC, where he won the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship for a second time. The Raw star’s final match in WWE saw him compete in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal.
Carlito And R-Truth Leaving WWE
The news of Carlito’s departure came just a few hours after R-Truth also announced that his time with the company was coming to an end, leaving many fans shocked when the news broke.
It should be noted that as both the aforementioned names are exiting WWE due to contract expiry as opposed to a release, they will become free agents immediately and can appear for any promotion.
