Why MJF Has No Issues With WWE Counter Programming AEW All In

AEW star and former World Champion MJF has addressed WWE hosting multiple events over All In weekend.

July 12 will see the return of All Elite Wrestling’s biggest show of the year with more than 20,000 wrestling fans expected to descend on Arlington as part of the show. Conveniently, rival promotion WWE is also hosting multiple events that weekend with NXT Great American Bash and Saturday Night’s Main Event set to take place on All In day and the all-women’s show Evolution returning the following night.

Many have pointed out that the timing of the WWE shows is more than convenient and seems to be yet another example of the world leader putting on shows to attempt to entice fans away from Texas that weekend. While the move has been criticised by many, MJF sees things differently.

While speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insiderthe former World Champion stated that it was a smart choice by the powers that be:

“You mean shows that are running at the exact same time as us, even though they claim we’re not competition? How do I feel about it? I think it’s a smart business practice,” he said. “I give jolly old St. Nick [Khan] and Trips a whole lot of credit. At the end of the day, if you can stomp out your competition, you’re doing what is necessary. Lord knows I would. Everyone is judging them for it. I think that’s silly. Don’t judge them for it, but also, don’t be stupid.”

Continuing, Maxwell Jacb Friedman added that it was definitely more than coincidental and that he would have done the exact same thing if it were up to him:

“They’re not doing this by happenstance. This isn’t circumstantial. None of it is. The difference between me and everyone else is even though I know that, I’m not going to pretend that is not the truth or going to stand here and pretend that’s not an incredibly intelligent thing to do. I would stomp on anyone’s neck if it meant I would get ahead. I’ve done it a million times in my career. That’s my thoughts on that.”

MJF Looking To Get One Step Closer To AEW World Championship At All In

Friedman’s match for All In has already been announced as he will be one of the entrants in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet match, which will see the winner be awarded a World Championship opportunity whenever they want. The other entrant already confirmed for the match is Mark Briscoe.

Winning the World Championship back at Full Gear 2022, MJF held the title for over a year before losing to Samoa Joe at Worlds End 2023.
