Charlotte Flair Opens Up About Relationship With The Four Horsewomen

WWE star Charlotte Flair has given her honest thoughts about her relationship over the years with the rest of the Four Horsewomen.

Flair, Becky Lynch, Mercedes Mone [FKA Sasha Banks] and Bayley made a name for themselves as the top 4 stars of the Women’s Evolution during the early stage of the movement. While the wrestlers put on great matches teaming up in various combinations over the years, it was their matches with each other that put them all on the map, in particular the match f the night triple threat between Flair, Lynch and Banks at WrestleMania 32 back in 2016.

Although the quartet were seemingly close behind the scenes towards the end of the past decades, Flair and Lynch had their issues in 2021, which came to a head as part of the infamous title swap segment that saw Flair seemingly go off script.

Writing in The Players’ Tribune on July 8, Flair first admitted that the group have been through the highs and lows, but the mutual respect of what they have accomplished remains:

“We’ve definitely had our ups and downs over the years. I won’t pretend we’re best friends…… or that we’re all even friends at the moment. I won’t pretend there’s a 4HW group chat I’ll send this article to when it publishes. And thinking about it that way, it does make me sad sometimes. But I also think it’s part of life, you know? Especially at the highest levels of professional competition. And on a professional level?? The respect between the four of us is absolute — and the bonds we share are f***ing indestructible. There’s not another person alive who knows what we’ve been through as a group, or what it’s taken for us to all still be active, and to all still be at the top of our games, as women working in a business that’s still learning how to treat women.“

Continuing, The Queen added that each of her former rivals each had their qualities to make the matches special, and that she credits the Horsewomen with being the reason she loves wrestling:

“I have a different, perfect chemistry with each of them — and if I wrote about them individually, I’d be writing forever. So instead I’ll just say this one thing, that is very meaningful for me, and that will always tie them together in my heart as a trio: I grew up in wrestling because of my dad … I got into wrestling because of my brother. But I fell in love with wrestling because of the Horsewomen.

I fell in love with wrestling because I fell in love with Becky, Bayley and Mercedes as wrestlers.

And nothing will ever change that.“

Charlotte Flair Looking For A Different Championship At WWE Evolution

Although Flair is best known for her 14 Women’s Championship reigns, the SmackDown star will instead be challenging for the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WWE Evolution on July 13. Set to team with Alexa Bliss, the duo will be one of 3 teams facing Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez for the titles.
