Why Jey Uso Lost World Heavyweight Championship To Gunther On WWE Raw

More information has come to light on Gunther’s victory over Jey Uso that saw the World Heavyweight Championship change hands in the process.

The main event of the June 9th Raw saw Guther face Uso with the World Title on the line in what was a rematch from WrestleMania 41, where Uso finally defeated The Ring General to win his first top championship.

The story heading into the match was that Uso was worn down from competing in multiple matches leading up to his title defence, while Gunther was the fresher man. Although Uso put up a valiant effort, Gunther ultimately locked in the sleeper hold to win the match and the title for the second time in his career, also becoming the first person to hold the championship twice.

While the result itself was not surprising, some were expecting to see interference from Seth Rollins or even Goldberg, neither of which made an appearance during or after the match. According to a new report, the reason for Uso’s major loss looks to have been revealed.

Real Reason Jey Uso Lost World Championship

As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer NewsletterTriple H made the call to have the title switch as Gunther is reportedly set to face Goldberg in the Hall of Famer’s retirement match and he wants the title to be at stake to make the match feel more big time. While the match has not been confirmed, it is heavily rumoured that Goldberg’s final match will take place on July 12th at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia. The show will also go head-to-head with AEW All In.
