Bayley has addressed her absence from the recent episode of SmackDown.
The December 6th episode of the blue brand saw the continuation of the Women’s United States Championship Tournament take place with Tiffany Stratton defeating Elektra Lopez and Naomi to secure the final spot in the semi-finals. Although Bayley is another one of the semi-finalists, the former Women’s Champion was nowhere to be seen on the show.
Speaking with Byron Saxton on the SmackDown Lowdown after the show went off the air, Bayley noted that like everyone in the match, she is feeling the after-effects of the WarGames match at Survivor Series, but used the time off to scout the competition:
“I don’t think anyone’s 100% coming out of WarGames. That match is so brutal. We all know the stakes we take, all the risks we take just by joining the teams and being a part of it. I was in there from the very beginning, starting with Nia Jax. So it took a toll. But let’s just say I’m happy that I got this week off to rest, okay? I get to rest. I get to study. I get to watch some Chelsea Green matches. We all know she is on this high right now. She has momentum behind her, she has the fans behind her. She works so hard, I’ll give her credit, she’s worked very hard to get herself out there, but I work just as hard, if not harder.”
Bayley Set For Major WWE Match
Victorious in the first match of the tournament, the former Women’s Champion has already secured her place in the semi-finals and will take on Chelsea Green on the December 13th episode of SmackDown. The winner of that match will meet the winner of Tiffany Stratton vs. Michin at Saturday Night’s Main Event the next night. Whoever is victorious on the NBC special will be crowned the first-ever Women’s United States Champion.
If Bayley is victorious then she will add to her 2024 accolades which also include being victorious in the Women’s Royal Rumble and winning the Women’s Championship from Iyo Sky at WrestleMania 40.
