When Swerve Strickland Looks Set To Return To AEW

Swerve Strickland could make his return to AEW soon, following an optimistic update.

The former World Champion was sidelined with injury following his match at Forbidden Door, which saw Strickland lose to Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada. After the match, Strickland was attacked by The Don Callis Family, which included a returning Wardlow. It was later revealed that Strickland was written off TV as he needed meniscus surgery, which has been planned for quite some time.

In a follow-up from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Selectsources in the company noted that they were optimistic that Strickland would be back in time for the winter, with December being pencilled in as the return date. It should be noted that this is barring any setbacks following the procedure. If this si the case, it is likely that Strickland will miss the 2025 Continental Classic, but could return to the ring at Worlds End to round out the year.

One of the most popular members of the AEW roster, Strickland had a standout year in 2024 as he won the World Championship at Dynasty and went on to headline All In later that year, which emanated from Wembley Stadium in London, England. Prior to losing to Okada at Forbidden Door, Strickland teamed with Will Ospreay at All In: Texas to defeat The Yung Bucks, stripping Matt and Nick Jackson of their EVP titles in the process.
