More information has been provided on Drew McIntyre and his travel issues just days out from WWE SummerSlam.
The 3-time World Champion is currently scheduled to team up with Logan Paul on August 2 to take on the team of Randy Orton and Jelly Roll in what will be the singer’s debut match. However, the weekend before, Drew McIntyre posted an update on social media stating that he was stuck in the UK due to issues at the airport, meaning that his involvement at SummerSlam is no longer guaranteed.
The reason for the issue is that McIntyre, who is a US resident, did not have his US passport with him, meaning that he was unable to get on the flight back to the States. Although there are still a few days to go until the event and the company will be hoping that the issue can be resolved quickly, a new report has revealed that a plan B is in place should the Scottish wrestler not make it in time.
As reported by WrestleVotes on social media, there are “wheels in motion” for an alternative plan if McIntyre can’t make it back in time for the go-home SmackDown on August 1:
I spoke with a source who tells me “wheels are in motion” for alternative plans in the event Drew McIntyre is unable to get to SmackDown this Friday in New Jersey.
What that means for his Tag Team match against Jelly Roll & Randy Orton at #SummerSlam, is yet to be determined.
WWE Star Volunteers To Replace Drew McIntyre
In the event that McIntyre can’t make it to New Jersey in time for SummerSlam, Logan Paul will need a new tag partner to take on Orton and Jelly Roll. In a post on Instagram, The Miz addressed the news and stated that if McIntyre is out then he wants in, offering Paul the opportunity to team with him at SummerSlam. Miz also spoke about his history with Paul, noting that he was the one who brought the social media star into WWE. Miz also brought up that he had beaten Orton many times, once to win his first WWE Championship.
