Huge WWE Star Considered For Role In Happy Gilmore 2

Another top WWE star could have joined the cast of Happy Gilmore 2, adding to the many cameos in the sequel.

Pro wrestling has a heavy presence in the follow-up to the 1996 original with former AEW World Champion MJF playing the role of Gilmore’s oldest son Gordie and former WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch a part of the villainous Maxi Golf team, joining the likes of Eminem, Post Malone and just about every major golfer in history as the guest stars. However, according to a recent report, the film could have become more dashing if schedules had aligned.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Selectformer WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was initially asked to read for a role in the movie, but scheduling conflicts led to it not being possible. It is noted that outside of the read role, it is unknown how close The American Nightmare could have come to being part of the project.

Rhodes will hit the big screen on August 1, as he is a part of the Naked Gun reboot starring Liam Neeson.

Another WWE Cameo Seen In Happy Gilmore 2

Although MJF and Becky Lynch are prominently featured in the movie and have speaking roles, another notable name from the wrestling world was originally intended to have a much larger presence in the film. While Hall of Famer Nikki Bella can be seen in multiple shots as Lynch’s caddy, the former Divas Champion had her speaking lines cut from the film due to around 20 minutes of footage needing to be removed. Bella has since spoken about her part being cut, adding that she was upset over the decision.

Happy Gilmore 2 is available to watch on Netflix now.
