WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has addressed the possibility that more PLEs could expand to 2 nights in the future.
Following the expansion of WrestleMania to 2 nights back in 2020, a theme which has continued ever since, August 2 and 3 saw SummerSlam also go to 2 nights for the first time in its near 40-year history. Although more stars were able to get onto the card and the event was popular in attendance and viewership, some fans felt that the additional night was unnecessary.
Now that both SummerSlam and WrestleMania look to be a full weekend event for the foreseeable future, there has been heavy speculation that more events will also grow to take advantage of the popularity, with many believing that the Royal Rumble will eventually become a 2-night show given its populairty and draw due to the Men’s and Women#s Rumble matches.
“Time Will Tell”: Triple H On More WWE PLEs Becoming 2 Nights
Speaking with ESPN SportsCenter on August 21 about the possibility of the expansion, Triple H stated that it will be a case of time will tell, noting that they will monitor the trends and do what they think is best for the fans:
“As far as will more of our larger events go to two nights? I think time will tell,” Levesque said. “It’s really, for us, about super-serving our fans. Just like for ESPN, you guys thrive on super-serving your fan base and the people that watch. So do we. It’s what we want to do. So when we can turn these into bigger events, make them destination weekends for fans, that’s what we will do. It’s all about our fans — our WWE Universe — and making them happy.”
The interview with ESPN follows the announcement that WrestlePalooza will be coming to the new streaming service in September, which will also run the same day as AEW All Out. The deal will see all WWE Premium Live Events broadcast on the platform in 2026, likely beginning with WrestleMania 42 in April.
