A former TNA World Champion has let their feelings be known after Joe Hendry lost the top title at NXT Battleground.
In one of the more surprising and historic results in NXT history, Joe Hendry lost the TNA World Championship to Trick Williams at the Premium Live Event. As a result of the victory, Williams became the first contracted WWE star to hold TNA championship gold. With Williams next set to put the title on the line against TNA’s Mike Santana, it is unknown when or if Hendry will receive another opportunity at the title.
While speaking with Tom Campbell of Cultaholic about the NXT Battleground loss, Nic Nemeth gave his thoughts on the matter, noting that Hendry should also be called out for the negatives as well as the positives:
“I’m really p*ssed off that someone from TNA lost our world title to someone who doesn’t work for us. If we’re going to applaud him for doing everything he’s done, and his grassroots following, and having everyone cheer for him, and coming through and even beating me at one point – I said the next day on IMPACT, ‘Hey man, you beat me and you deserve applause for that.’ And he’s brought a lot of eyes to TNA, but if we’re going to call out the good things, it’s only fair that we call out the bad.”
“I don’t think he should be represented as world champion for TNA because no matter how much good he’s done, he lost our title to someone who doesn’t work for us. I think we might have to bring back wrestling court, or have someone pull him aside at work next week and we might have to call a team meeting. And I mean that in all seriousness,” he continued.
“What a cool thing that all these different companies are working together. I think that’s great for the wrestling fans, I think that’s great for us, I think that’s great for WWE, NXT, AAA, everybody. You name it. But if we’re going to call out the good things, call out the bad. A TNA guy lost the world title to somebody else.”
When Did Joe Hendry Win The TNA World Championship?
Having a standout year in 2024, many felt that the Scottish star would finally win the big one that year. However, despite multiple attempts, Hendry was unable to win the title before the year came to a close. At TNA Genesis at the start of the year, Hendry defeated Nic Nemeth to win the World Championship for the first time in his career.
