Tony Khan has confirmed that he had a conversation with Ricochet following the AEW star’s activity on social media that generated a lot of backlash.
Back in March, Ricochet responded to a fan online, “I’m glad you got MS”, when the fan criticised his work. The response saw fans call out Ricochet for going too far with his response, noting that this was more than just trying to play a heel online and responding to the internet fans.
The following day, the AEW star issued an apology to the fan for his actions, adding that he would do better moving forward:
“I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are effected by MS. She didnt deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better.”
At the Dynasty post-show media scrum, Joel Pearl of Fightful asked Khan about the post, and whether he had spoken to the former National Champion.
“That Was Not Acceptable”: Tony Khan On Ricochet Social Media Post
Responding to Pearl, Khan confirmed that Ricochet did violate the social media policy put in place by the promotion, adding that they are trying to move past that:
“I did, and I had a conversation with him. I have a good conversation and a frank talk. That was not acceptable, and I think that was communicated. We have a policy and continues to be a policy in place for such things, and that violated it. There is no place for that in wrestling or anywhere. I do appreciate you asking, and we’ve tried to move past that, but thank you for asking.”
Ricochet was victorious at Dynasty as he defeated Chris Jericho in what was Jericho’s first match in a year. The match was set up one week after Jericho made his surprise return to the company.
