Tony Khan Responds To AEW Ownership Rumours

Tony Khan has addressed rumours surrounding others having a major stake within AEW.

Although AEW recently announced a new media rights deal for the enxt 3 years, questions still remain in regard to the specifics of the deal. As All Elite Wrestling is not a publicly traded company, they do not have to disclose all financials and are not required to disclose if other parties have a stake in the promotion.

On October 2nd, the Sports Business Journal ran a story claiming that Warner Bros Discovery has a stake in AEW, leading some to believe that this was a factor in the new deal. However, when asked about this story on the WrestleDream media call, Khan stated that while he will not get into the specifics of his promotion’s structure he does have all of the voting power:

“It’s a fair question. I will not get into our ownership structure beyond saying I have 100% of the voting stock in this company and have since the beginning and hold the vast majority of shares. I think that’s fair to say. As the sole voting owner and the vast majority shareholder of the company, I think that speaks volumes and I’m the controlling owner with 100% voting control of the business.”

Tony Khan Speaks To The Media

A number of topics were discussed on the recent media call, mostly in relation to the new deal. Other highlights are as follows:

  • There are no plans to split the rosters at this time
  • Khan is very happy that Daniel Garcia re-signed with the promotion and understands why he took his time to make the decision
  • There are no updates on ROH securing a TV deal

Chris Jericho also spoke about the new deal in a recent interview.

H/t to Fightful.
