The Rock Suffers Injury While Filming “The Smashing Machine”

The Rock has picked up an injury while filming his latest movie.

The Rock is dealing with an injury.

Following on from his return to WWE at the start of 2024 and the build-up to his return match at WrestleMania 40, The Great One announced on the Raw after WrestleMania that he would be going away as he had multiple commitments in Hollywood he had to fulfil.

One project involving The Rock, real name Dwayne Johnson, is the upcoming A24 movie The Smashing Machine, which datils the life of MMA fighter Mark Kerr. In an update by Johnson, he has suffered an elbow injury during filming.

Posting a video to social media, the former World Champion confirmed that he had a swollen elbow that is filled with a lot of fluid that needs to be removed before he can get an MRI to assess the extent of the damage:

“As you guys know, I’m filming a movie called The Smashing Machine. And any time your film is called The Smashing Machine, well, you’re gonna, you’re kinda gonna get smashed up. Look at that sucker right there. Looks like I have a cantaloupe on the bottom of my elbow. I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes, and there might be some soft tissue damage in there. That’s a lot of fluid, we’ll see. I gotta get it out of there first before I get any kind of MRI.

But the pain feels pretty good. But all good, it is what it is until it isn’t. I remember my old man used to say, god rest his soul, the Soul Man, he was an old school pro wrestler, old school bodybuilder. He always used to say ‘A day without pain is like a day without sunshine, boy.’”

Continuing, the Hollywood star noted that he had dealt with injuries in the past while inside the ring and asked if anyone had any recommendations for treatment:

“Uh, listen, if you guys have any advice, any counsel… you know, I’ve been banged up in the past before, I’ve had injuries before. I tore my quad off my pelvis, tore my abductor off my pelvis, tore my entire abdomen wall, all wrestling, pro wrestling matches. Had four knee surgeries, torn achilles, ruptures in my back, completely reconstructed shoulder over here.

So I’ve been there before, but look at that f***ing thing. If you guys have any advanced advice on some great anti-inflammatories, please let me know.”

Johnson poured a glass of tequila to close out the video and joked that he was feeling better already.

Will The Rock Return To WWE?

With the Hollywood star having unfinished business with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns following the events that took place over WrestleMania weekend, a return to WWE appears to be inevitable at some point in the future, most likely in the lead-up to WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Back in April 2024, The Rock discussed the possibility of more matches.
