The Rock Lays Down Epic Challenge For WWE WrestleMania

The Rock SmackDown

The Rock has effectively announced what he is doing at WrestleMania.

Ever since Rock made his return on New Year’s Day, it has been clear that he would be making his return to the ring in the near future, very likely at WrestleMania 40. Rumours were only strengthened on February 16th when Rock made a surprise appearance once again, confronting Roman Reigns and seemingly setting up a title match in Philadelphia.

The next twist came when Cody Rhodes made his WrestleMania choice at the press conference, choosing Roman Reigns and spoiling The Bloodline’s plans for the biggest Mania match of all time. Rock slapped Rhodes when family was brought into the equation, causing everyone to be separated. Despite Rock demanding that Triple H fix things and revert the match back to the original plan, Triple H would not change his mind.

With all 4 men nearly coming to blows, it appeared that a tag team match was inevitable. On the March 1st episode of SmackDown, fans finally got their answer.

The Rock Issues The Challenge

Following on from his advertised appearance and insulting the crowd in Glendale, Arizona, Rock finally let his intentions be known. After insulting the local crowd and firing some insults at Rhodes and Rollins, The Great One got down to business.

A tag team match was picked with a monumental stipulation. The match pitched was Rock and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. If Rollins and Rhodes win, Rhodes’ title match against Reigns on WrestleMania Sunday will see The Bloodline barred from ringside and the match is truly one on one. However, if Rock and Reigns win on night one, the title match on night 2 will be Bloodline rules and anything goes.

Cody Rhodes will respond to the challenge on March 8th.
