The Rock has finally met Roman Reigns face-to-face.
Making good on his promise from New Year’s Day, The Great One interrupted The Tribal Chief on February 2nd to seemingly set up a WrestleMania showdown.
Reigns made his entrance after retaining the Undisputed Championship at the Royal Rumble. Referencing World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Reigns mocked Rollins for comments that were made on the January 29th episode of Raw. Reigns stated that he wouldn’t beg Cody Rhodes to accept his challenge but stated that he was number one.
Rhodes interrupted Reigns and stated that he still wanted the Undisputed Championship before discussing the iconic phrase “finish the story.” Rhodes stated that to finish the story he would take everything away from Reigns and will target The Tribal Chief. However, Rhodes then dropped the bombshell that the match would not be at WrestleMania, stating that he talked to someone who knows Reigns well, The Great One.
The Rock made his entrance and embraced Rhodes. The American Nightmare exited the ring, leaving the two icons to stand face to face as the show went off the air.
Has The Rock Ended Cody Rhodes’ Story?
Although The Rock competing in a major match once again is a historic event, many don’t feel that the time is right for the true battle of Head of the Table. After being victorious at the Royal Rumble once again, a lot of fans feel like this is Cody Rhodes’ time to finally defeat Reigns and end the monumental reign. With all the work that The American Nightmare has put in over the past year, there is a strong argument that his opportunity should not be taken away by a part-time performer, even if it is The People’s Champion. Additionally, many already know the result of this match and it is not the one that they wanted.
