The teams have been named and the battle lines have been drawn for next week’s NXT vs. TNA Showdown special, which will air live on October 7.
One week on from the TNA Invasion, which saw multiple stars from the brand make surprise appearances on the show and ended in a mass brawl between both sides, it was announced that an Invasion special would take place. On the September 30 show, the name of the special was clarified to be Showdown instead of Invasion, and it was also confirmed that 4 men and 4 women from each brand would be facing off in elimination matches, which fans of Survivor Series will be very familiar with.
Representing NXT will be NXT Champion Ricky Saints, TNA Champion Trick Williams, Myles Borne, and Je’Von Evans on the men’s side, while NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, and Lola Vice will represent the women’s team. For TNA, Mike Santana, Frankie Kazarian, Moose, and Leon Slater will be on the men’s team and Kelani Jordan, The IInspiration, and Mara Sade will be team TNA. It should be noted that Kelani Jordan is signed to NXT, but currently holds the Women’s Championship.
Inevitably, another brawl broke out at the end of the show, which saw Shawn Michaels smiling at what was unfolding in front of the WWE fans.
The animosity first occurred when multiple TNA stars expressed their displeasure at a NXT Champion vs. TNA Champion winner takes all match being booked, feeling that they were the inferior brand as a result. Inevitably, the stars of TNA made their presence felt the following week.

- Ethan Page (c) vs. Mustafa Ali – Singles match for the NXT North American title
