Team MJF Loses Steel Cage Match At Forbidden Door Following Betrayal

MJF will be forced to defend his World Championship against Mark Briscoe after suffering a loss in the 12-man steel cage match.

Competing at Forbidden Door, the team of MJF and The Don Callis Family were defeated by Team Mark Briscoe in the chaotic and bloody bout. The match had a very unique presentation as the cage was circular to surround the ring as opposed to the traditional square format.

The closing moments oft he match saw MJF demand that Andrade El Idolo hold up Briscoe for the Dynamite Diamond Ring strike. However, as MJF was lining up for the shot, El Idolo shoved Broscoe out of the way and struck MJF. El Idolo then revealed his “F*ck MJF, f*ck Don” T-shirt before exiting the cage. Briscoe then hit a Jay Driller onto Jake Doyle to win the match for his team. In a post-match promo, Briscoe said that he would be cashing in his opportunity on July 1 on the next episode of Dynamite.

MJF Battered And Bloodied In Steel Cage Match

The 12-man war was exactly what AEW fans expected when it was first announced. A mixture of violence, athleticism and comedy, the match was announced as “Death’s Door” by Justin Roberts prior to the entrances.

Notable big moments from the match include Darby Allin landing face first into a pile of thumbtacks and Kevin Knight picking up a bag that exploded in a burst of pyro. Additionally, Kye O’Reilly attacked Kyle Fletcher with a Nintendo NES games console.

Following the steel cage match, Will Ospreay won the Owen Hart tournament in the main event. Ospreay will challenge whoever holds the World Championship at All In on August 30.
