A special guest referee has been assigned to the WWE NXT Championship match at No Mercy.
On September 1st, TNA star Joe Hendry has the chance to make history as he will challenge Ethan Page for the NXT Championship. On the August 27th episode of the show, Hendry once again presented a concert to poke fun at Page, which the champion took exception to. Claiming that Hendry does not belong in NXT, the segment was interrupted by General Manager Ava, who had a major announcement concerning No Mercy.
Stating that Page had upset the standard officials on the brand, Ava assigned a special referee for the match, who was revealed to be former champion Trick Williams. Hendry hit a Standing Ovation onto Page and Williams counted a pin, potentially foreshadowing what might happen on Sunday.
The Line-Up For WWE NXT No Mercy Is As Follows:
- Ethan Page (c) vs. Joe Hendry – Singles match for the NXT Championship. Trick Williams will serve as the special guest referee.
- Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Jaida Parker – Singles match for the NXT Women’s Championship
- Kelani Jordan (c) vs. Wendy Choo – Singles match for the NXT Women’s North American Championship
- Oba Femi (c) vs. Tony D’Angelo – Singles match for the NXT North American Championship
- Chase University vs. Nathan Frazier and Axiom – Tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championships
