WWE star Tiffany Stratton has spoken out on that Charlotte Flair segment on SmackDown that got everyone talking for all the wrong reasons.
Continuing the build to their WrestleMania match, champion Stratton and challenger Flair met in the ring for a war of words moderated by announcer Wade Barrett. During the segment, both women went off script with Stratton bringing up Flair’s divorces and Flair retorting that Stratton’s boyfriend, fellow WWE star Ludwig Kaiser, had been in her DMs.
The segment quickly went viral on social media and was cut from the official broadcast feed and YouTube clip. On an episode of WWE Unreal, which premiered on July 29, the backstage reaction to the angle aired with Chief Content Officer Triple H asking what was scripted and told STratton that she needed to apologise to Flair, which was not seen as part of the show.
While appearing on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Stratton admitted that things did competitive between them both, adding that she did apologise to the 14-time Women’s Champion afterwards:
“Things were heated, very competitive. I’m also competitive, trying to prove to Charlotte Flair I can go, I can stand up to her, I’m worthy of this title,” she said. “So yeah, s*** got heated, we went off script. It happens. I did have to apologize.”
Continuing, Stratton also noted that although she had no issue with the apology, she did feel justified over the segment:
“I’m someone that can embrace being wrong. I had no problem apologizing. I think what I did was justified, but maybe I shouldn’t have gone that far. But I do feel that I was justified by what I did.”
Tiffany Stratton Defeated Charlotte Flair At WrestleMania 41
Competing in night one of WrestleMania 41, Stratton kept hold of her title by pinning Flair. Still reigning as the champion at the time of writing, the SmackDown star has also picked up victories over the likes of Nia Jax, Trish Stratus and most recently Jade Cargill at SummerSlam.
Back in July, Charlotte Flair gave her thoughts on the WrestleMania match.
