Shayna Baszler has been confirmed for a second appearance at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport.
As announced by Barnett on social media, Baszler will make her return to the event on July 28th at the Brooklyn show:
For her, the “debut” in Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport was not that but in fact her stepping into the ring she was forged from – the crucible that has made her a champion in MMA and Pro Wrestling. This July, she returns to her birthplace to once again reign in blood and glory. “The Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler returns to Josh Barnett’s: Bloodsport
Baszler made her debut for Bloodsport over WrestleMania weekend in Philadelphia and was victorious over TNA star Masha Slamovich via referee stoppage. At the time of writing, the former NXT Women’s Champion’s opponent for the show has not been announced.
How Did Shayna Baszler Get Booked For Bloodsport X?
The announcement earlier in the year that a contracted WWE star would be competing on an independent show came as a surprise to many as the company has a history of not wanting to collaborate with other promotions. Prior to Bloodsport X, Barnett detailed how he was able to secure The Queen of Spades for the event:
“I guess the easiest way to describe it is just through my relationships with people there [WWE]. That’s really what it comes down to. And with anybody, when speaking of a promotion, you’re always going to want, If you’re going to do anything outside of it, you want a certain level of trust and consideration given to you. And it’s hard to lend your toys out when there’s so much money put into them and the product itself.
In general, of course, we see cross-promotion happening out there in the world of wrestling, but it’s really a big deal when you think about all the different things involved with it and the value of some of the athletes that are going back and forth. But fortunately, through relationships I’ve cultivated over the years, something like having Shayna Baszler at GCW Bloodsport is – it’s a reality now. And I’m just super happy and honored to be able to do it. And I know that Shayna’s going to do fantastic. I should know, I’ve been training her [for] her entire career.”
