Shawn Spears Makes Shock WWE NXT Return

Shawn Spears

Shawn Spears is back in WWE.

As seen on the February 27th episode of NXT, Spears made his surprise return to the brand by attacking Rige Holland with a steel chair. Holland stated that his actions had gotten him into a lot of trouble as of late, claiming that there was no malicious intent behind it. At this point, the lights went out in the arena.

The phrase “The will ultimately prevail, but there is pain bringing it to light” was seen on the entrance stage and played through the Capitol Wrestling Center before Holland was stuck with the chair.

Shawn Spears Latest To Leave AEW

Spears is back in WWE after more than 5 years away. Previously known as Tye Dillinger in NXT, The Perfect 10 gimmick became very popular with fans of the Black and Gold brand. Unfortunately, Dillinger was greatly underutilised on the main roster and requested his release in 2019, which was granted. Reverting to Shawn Spears, the former Dillinger would debut for AEW at the inaugural Double or Nothing pay-per-view and would sign on with the brand shortly afterwards. In one of the most infamous moments in company history, Spears struck Cody Rhodes in the head with a steel chair at Fyter Fest, earning him the nickname of “The Chair Man.” Aligning with MJF later in his career, SPears would continue to compete and make sporadic appearances until December 2023, when Spears publicly announced he would soon be a free agent.

More details about Spears’ deal have been provided courtesy of Fightful Select. As is seen in the YouTube clip, Spears will go by his AEW name and not return to Tye Dillinger. Additionally, many were unaware of the return, with one talent describing it as “a complete shock.” Additionally, Spears had been signed to a WWE deal for some time and was well-received backstage.

Spears is the latest name to join WWE after departing from AEW.
