As WrestleMania 42 fast approaches, Seth Rollins have given fans an indication as to where he is at with his recovery.
The former World Heavyweight Champion has missed the end of 2025 and all of 2026 so far after suffering a shoulder injury that required surgery. Unlike the storyline knee injury that turned out to be a ruse, this injury was legitimate.
With Elimination Chamber set to take place in Chicago on February 28, there has been some speculation that Rollins could make his return at the Premium Live Event to set up his Mania match. However, while appearing on ESPN’s First Take, Rollins ruled out a Chamber appearance.
“No, I will not be able to do anything this weekend [Elimination Chamber], but we’re getting close. I mean, look, I can move it around. It’s not in a sling anymore. It’s feeling good. It was in October when I got the surgery. So you look at the timeline, we’re getting close. We’re getting close. We’re not all the way there, but we’re getting close.”
Who Will Seth Rollins Face At WrestleMania 42 If He Is Cleared?
Given that Rollins was written off TV following an attack by Bron Breakker, it appeared that WWE was setting up a showdown between the former World Champion and the rising star at the biggest show of the year. However, as Breakker recently underwent emergency hernia surgery, along with Bronson Reed also being sidelined until further notice, Rollins’ Mania path now looks unclear if he can get cleared in time for the biggest show of the year. If Rollins can’t be cleared for WrestleMania, this will be the second time he has missed the show due to injury, with the first happening back in 2016.
At WrestleMania 41, Rollins headlined night 1 in a triple threat match that also involved CM Punk and Roman Reigns, Rollins was the victor in the match after Paul Heyman betrayed both of his former allies, leading to the eventual formation of The Vision faction.
