Seth Rollins has provided fans with an update following his assessment due to an injury scare.
The Visionary was in action at the Saturday Night’s Main Event special against LA Knight on July 12. During the closing moments of the match, Rollins performed a springboard moonsault but immediately grabbed his leg upon impact. After being checked by the medical staff, Rollins was hit with a BFT by Knight and the match was over, with many suspecting that an audible was called to bring the contest to a premature end. Additionally, it has since been reported that Rollins was originally set to win the match.
After Triple H stated that Rollins was scheduled to get an MRI to check on the severity of the suspected injury, the former World Champion has since shared the results of the findings. Appearing as a guest host on The Rich Eisen Show, Rollins first spoke about what happened in the ring that night:
“I was in a match with LA Knight and I hurt my knee. I was doing a move I do all the time, a moonsault, and I landed on my feet. When I landed, I felt my knee kind of pop and buckle. We got out of the match and move forward.”
Continuing, Rollins detailed the results of the MRI, noting that while there is some swelling, he is scheduled for a follow-up appointment, adding that he suspects that he will be out for an extended period:
“Monday, I was in Birmingham, Alabama, where our specialist is. We tried to take a look at the knee. There was some imaging; it was a little too swollen, so we’re going to take another look, hopefully in a week or two here in LA. Try to get some sort of firm diagnosis and we can go from there. I am not a doctor, I only know my body and what I feel. What I feel is that this is going to be me out for an extended period of time. This isn’t the first time I’ve been injured, it won’t be the last time. I’ve always got WrestleMania in the back of my mind. Can I make it back for WrestleMania season? I feel good about that. Beyond a firm timeline, I just won’t know until we receive a clearer answer from the MRI. That’s where it’s at.”
Paul Heyman Answers Common Fan Question Following Seth Rollins Injury
While there is never a good time for a wrestler to suffer an injury, what happened to Rollins was especially unlucky as he is currently the holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase, which guarantees him a future World Championship match. As Rollins could be out of action for months, a common question has been what the future holds for the briefcase and whether the former World Champion would have to relinquish his opportunity. However, on the July 14 Raw, Paul Heyman pointed out that Rollins has a year to cash in the contract, meaning that as of right now the briefcase won’t be going anywhere.
