Sammy Guevara has been suspended by AEW for the second time in his time with the company.
During a match that took place on the February 16th AEW Rampage taping, Guevara faced Jeff Hardy in a no disqualification match. Fans in attendance were concerned when Guevara dove off the top of a ladder and his knee connected with Hardy’s head. It was later reported that Hardy had suffered a broken nose and was being assessed for concussion. According to a new report, there are repercussions from his actions in the match.
As reported by Fightful Select, Guevara is serving a suspension following the Rampage match against Hardy. It is noted that Guevara hit his finish on Hardy and concussion protocol not being followed led to the suspension. No more details have been provided in regards to the reasons for the suspension. Additionally, Guevara did not comment on the suspension.
The recent suspension adds to Guevara’s previous suspension back in 2016, where the former TNT Champion made extremely inappropriate comments on a podcast about Sasha Banks [Mercedes Mone]. Guevara was taken off TV for a number of weeks.
When Will Sammy Guevara Return?
The report does not disclose how long Guevara will be absent for. It was also noted in the report that Guevara did work an additional match against Powerhouse Hobbs later in the month after he faced Hardy on Rampage.
