Rumoured Timeline For The John Cena Classic

WWE have seemingly pencilled in when The John Cena Classic is set to take place.

As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsiderthe inaugural tournament is scheduled to take place in the latter part of the year. One source also noted that the Classic is being targeted for the end of the year. If so, it will mark approximately one year since Cena competed in his final match back in December 2025. The 17-time World Champion’s final match saw him lose via submission to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Details Remain Sparse On The John Cena Classic

After hyping up a history-making announcement at Backlash, Cena appeared at the Premium Live Event to let fans know about the concept. The John Cena Classic will have its own special, and the winner will receive a new championship. Much like the show that featured Cena’s final match. Stars from NXT are scheduled to face off with main roster stars. The champion will not be determined by the most wins, but instead via a fan vote. If a Superstar loses their matches but impresses the fanbase enough, they still have an opportunity to win the title.

No entrants have been announced for the tournament at the time of writing.

Speaking in an interview following the initial announcement, Cena spoke about his future in WWE. While confirming that he will still make appearances, Cena also added that physicality will be off limits, as he has a “no fall down” agreement.
