Roman Reigns Names Favourite WrestleMania Match

WWE star Roman Reigns has explained why one particular WrestleMania match is his favourite, despite the fact that he lost.

The Tribal Chief is set to headline the biggest show of the year for the 11th time, more than anyone else in professional wrestling history. Along with a WWE Championship win, a title retention and being one of only 2 people to beat The Undertaker at The Show of Shows, Reigns has been a key part of Mania for more than a decade. However, when it comes to his favourite wrestling moment on The Grandest Stage, the former World Champion admitted that it was not one of his big wins.

Appearing on ESPN, Reigns was asked about his favourite moment from his Mania history, to which the 2-time Royal Rumble winner responded that it was his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 in 2015. Along with this being Reigns’ first Mania main event, the match is best known for Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank contract in what is now known as The Heist of the Century.

When asked why he holds the match so dearly, Reigns responded that the Lesnar match was the one that elevated him to that main event level:

“It didn’t end the way I wanted it to, but from that moment on, that showed me the importance of the main event of WrestleMania. My life changed. It was completely different after that night. The whole world looked at me different. I was a legitimate superstar at that point. At that point, I got the rub from Brock Lesnar. He was the greatest combat athlete at the time and using him a a stepping stone. It put me in a different stratosphere and it hasn’t been the same since.”

Will Roman Reigns Win At WrestleMania?

2026 Royal Rumble winner Reigns will once again be part of the main event as he will challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of night 2. This will be the first time that Reigns has challenged for a championship since his 1,316-day reign came to an end at WrestleMania 40 when he lost the title to Cody Rhodes.
