Rey Mysterio is back in WWE.
On the March 1st episode of WWE SmackDown, a Street Fight took place between Carlito and Santos Escobar. With the match being no disqualification, Legado Del Phantasma provided interference. The music of Mysterio played in the arena to a massive reception as the Hall of Famer limped down the ramp on crutches. However, this was a ruse as Mysterio used the crutches to fend off Angel Garza and Humberto.
With Escobar distracted, Carlito launched an attack and set up Escobar for the 619, which Mysterio executed. Carlito drove Escobar through a table to win the match. Mysterio celebrated with the LWO after the bell.
Rey Mysterio Returns After Lengthy Absence
Back in November, Rey Mysterio announced on social media that he had undergone knee surgery. The former World Champion was attacked by Escobar a few days prior to write Mysterio off TV so that he could undergo the procedure. Many were hopeful that Mysterio would be recovered in time for the Royal Rumble but unfortunately was not cleared in time.
Many expected Mysterio to make his long-awaited return in the near future as he was spotted at a UFC event just a couple of weeks prior.
