Rey Mysterio suffered “extreme whiplash” on the July 28th episode of SmackDown.
The announcement was made by Michael Cole on the August 4th episode of SmackDown, following a recap package showing the worrying incident.
The segment ended with the concerning news that Mysterio’s current condition is “day-to-day.”
The match between Mysterio and Santos Escobar was cut short on the July 28th show, with Escobar being awarded the victory as the LWO leader was not cleared to compete. As a result of the victory, Escobar is the new number one contender for the United States Championship.
It should be noted that at the time of writing, NXT are still promoting that Rey Mysterio will be making an appearance on the August 8th episode of NXT.
