Fenix has been off TV for over 6 months, last wrestling on Collision back in July 2024. Over the course of the summer, multiple reports emerged that both Fenix and his partner Penta were looking to exit the promotion and join WWE. Follow-up reports noted that because of this The Lucha Bros were kept off TV until their contracts expired. However, while Penta was able to leave AEW without any major issues and made his WWE debut on the January 13th episode of Raw, Fenix had injury time added onto his contract, a move which caused a lot of backlash among fans. It was previously reported that Fenix’s deal was set to expire in the summer of 2025 but it appears that he has been released from his contract ahead of schedule.
