Randy Orton To Break Record At WWE SummerSlam

Randy Orton will once again reach a major milestone at WWE SummerSlam, regardless of the result.

The most tenured wrestler on the roster and one of the most tenured performers in company history, Orton has remained a full-time competitor since his main roster debut back in 2002, only taking time away due to injury or filming other projects.

Booked as a top star for most of his main roster run, which is now closing in on 25 years, the 14-time World Champion currently holds the record for the most PLE matches of all time. However, on August 2 or 3, The Apex Predator will set a new record specific to SummerSlam itself.

Orton is currently tied with The Undertaker at 16 macthes a piece at the long running event. Providing Orton competes in his scheduled macth next month, he will set the enw record of having 17 SummerSlam matches. The former World Champion made his debut at the event at SummerSla 2003, competing in the second Elimination Chamber match. One year later, Orton won hsi first World Chapionship by defeating Chris Benoit in the main event.

The last time The Viper competed at the Summer show was back in 2021, which saw him and Matt Riddle defeat AJ Styles and Omos to win the Tag Team Championships.

Although Orton has previously challenged for World Championships and competed in the main event of the second biggest show of the year, 2025 will be slightly different for the veteran. Following an alteration on SmackDown, it was announced that Orton would team with musician Jelly Roll to take on Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre in a tag team match.
