Randy Orton will be a part of WWE for at least the next 5 years.
On Monday August 12th, Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that sources within the company believed that Orton had re-signed with the company. In a further update, the extension has been confirmed. Fightful also provides more details into the nature of the deal and the negotiations.
Back in 2019, Orton posed next to a door with the word “Elite” on the plaque, jokingly teasing that he might be considering a jump to AEW, who had just stared at that time. Signing a 5-year contract with a significant bump in pay at that point, the 14-time World Champion’s deal was set to expire in 2024. With Orton locked in for the next 5 years at the very least, Orton will be closing in on 30 consecutive years on the main roster, a feat only matched by The Undertaker.
While Orton is now back to a full-time schedule, his back injury back in 2022 left many wondering if he would ever return to in-ring action due to the nature of the injury, his age and having little left to accomplish in WWE. Returning at Survivor Series 2023, Orton has not lost a step in-ring and still gets one of the loudest crowd reactions each week. It should be noted that the 18 months Orton had off has not been a factor in the new deal and no injury time has been added on. When Fightful asked about this, one source within the company stated “the guaranteed money associated with contracts now is a drastic shift from what it was in 2019.”

With only John Cena and Ric Flair holding more championships than Orton in WWE history, fans have speculated whether or not Orton will get a shot at tying or even breaking the all-time record. Orton will once again get an opportunity at the top prize at Bash in Berlin as he challenges Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
