Oba Femi Leaves WWE NXT Championship In Ring Following Title Defence

Oba Femi shockingly left the ring without his NXT Championship following his latest win on TV.

The main event of the New Year’s Evil special aired live on January 6 and saw Femi put his title on the line against Leon Slater in the main event. In a true battle of power vs. speed, it was Femi who emerged the victor after hitting the Fall From Grace onto the X Division Champion.

Following the match, General Manager Ava noted that a number of NXT stars have been called up to the main roster, referencing Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Lash Legend and Jordynne Grace all no longer being in NXT. Robert Stoen interrupted Ava, and the camera cut to the title in the ring.

It should be noted that video packages have aired on SmackDown and Raw hyping up Femi, seemingly signalling his arrival to the main roster imminently.

When Did Oba Femi Win The NXT Championship

Femi won the championship back from Ricky Saints at NXT Deadline. Following the victory, Femi went on to face Cody Rhodes in an exhibition match at Saturday Night’s Main Event the following week, which was also where John Cena competed in his final match. The match between Femi and Rhodes ended in a no contest when Drew McIntyre attacked Rhodes to cause the DQ.
