Oba Femi Wins Back WWE NXT Championship; Huge Match Set

Oba Femi has captured the NXT Championship once again and is set to have one of the biggest matches of his career in just a few days.

Competing in the opening match of NXT Deadline on December 6, Femi defeated Ricky Saints to become of the select few to hold the NXT Title twice. The closing moments of the match saw Femi hit 2 pop-up powerbombs to pin Saints and win the championship. Much like their previous encounter at No Mercy, where Saints was the one who won the match, Saints tried to use his speed to overcome Femi. However, this time it was Femi’s power that ultimately won the contest.

The victory by Femi brings to an end Saints’ reign at 70 days. Additionally, Femi now joins Finn Balor, Bron Breakker, Tommaso Ciampa, Trick Williams, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura and Karrion Kross as those who have held the title more than once.

Later in the night, Je’Von Evans won the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, meaning that he will receive a future opportunity at the championship.

Oba Femi Wins More Than NXT Championship At Deadline

Femi and Saints made an appearance on the December 5 SmackDown as part of a backstage segment with General Manager Nick Aldis and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. To add even more stakes to their Deadline matchup, it was also announced that whoever won the match would face Rhodes in an exhibition match at the December 13 Saturday Night’s Main Event special, which will also be the show where John Cena competes in his last match.
