The viewership has been revealed for the July 27th edition of NXT. The pre-taped edition on SYFY drew an average of 520,000 viewers. This number is the lowest rating in the black and gold brand’s history since the move to network television. The numbers have been obtained from Brandon Thurston at Wrestlenomics:
WWE NXT last night preempted to Syfy (due to the Olympics on USA) was watched by 520,000 viewers on average, -27% from last week.

150,000 viewers were aged 18-49 (about a 0.12 rating), -41% from last week.

A significant drop in viewers has been seen from the previous week. The July 20th episode saw 709,000 viewers tune in to the show.
Multiple factors can be attributed to the record low rating. Firstly, as the show was pre-taped, many may have read the results of matches and segments beforehand and decided not to tune in. Secondly, the show faced heavy competition, due to The Olympics taking place at the same time in the usual USA timeslot for NXT. Also, as the show was airing on the SYFY network, this may affect viewership. This has been seen when AEW moved from their original timeslot and channel in various editions of Dynamite.
The biggest talking point of the July 27th edition of NXT was the return of Samoa Joe to in-ring competition. Joe will challenge Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship at TakeOver 36.
