For those expecting a Brock Lesnar return to WWE, it won’t be happening anytime soon.
Following two Lesnar references on the October 14th episode of Raw, fans began to speculate whether or not the former World Champion could be preparing for his return given that subtle easter eggs have been planted in the past to set up possible returns. The rumours only intensified when a report from WrestleVotes stated that discussions have been taking place regarding a possible Lesnar return soon.
Lesnar has not been seen since his loss to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. While reports indicated that the former World Champion could be making his return in the Royal Rumble match, just days before the event former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing Vince McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking. While not explicitly named in the lawsuit, The Wall Street Journal named Lesnar as one of the individuals implicated in the allegations. All Brock Lesnar creative plans were scrapped as a result and he was also removed from the WWE 2K24 videogame.
Brock Lesnar Is Not Returning
An extensive update on Lesnar has been reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select. As expected, there are no plans at this time to bring Lesnar back to WWE, with one source within the company saying “There are no creative plans in place for Lesnar, and if conversations have occurred, we’ve not been briefed on that.”
It is also added that WWE “went to great expense and inconvenience” to have Lesnar removed from the game and merchandise was greatly reduced in price to remove it. Additionally, there are no plans to have new merchandise made. In regards to the references, it is also noted that Lesnar was not brought up by name and his name is prohibited to be spoken on TV, much like Vince McMahon. With an investigation ongoing, it would be very surprising to see Lesnar return until it had concluded. Lesnar’s name has also not been brought up in creative meetings in months.
