NJPW has announced that its American subsidiary will cease operations effective immediately.
New Japan Pro Wrestling issued a statement on its website on November 6 that the America Inc. subsidiary would enter liquidation. The pro wrestling promotion has cited the optimisation of management resources in a rapidly changing business environment as part of the decision.
New Japan events will still be held in America moving forward, but with the full backing of the TV Asahi group:
“New Japan Pro-Wrestling hereby announces that subsidiary New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc will cease operations and enter liquidation.
As NJPW continues to optimize allocation of management resources in a rapidly changing business environment, the decision was made to close the subsidiary, which was founded in 2019.
Moving forward, NJPW events in North America will continue to be held with the full backing and resources of the TV Asahi group, as part of a new chapter in NJPW’s ongoing global expansion.”
MJPW of America has remained dormant since its last event, Resurgence, which took place in May 2025 at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.
NJPW Of America Enters Liquidation
The USA subsidiary held its first event in September 2020. Named Fighting Spirit Unleashed, the show was held with no fans in attendance due to COVID restrictions in place at that time. 7-10 events took place from 2022 when restrictions were lifted. The shows often featured major title matches and guest appearances from members of the AEW roster. The final NJPW of America match saw AZM defeat Mercedes Mone and Mina Shirakawa to win the Strong Women’s Championship.
NJPW is now beginning the build to its biggest show of the year, Wrestle Kingdom 21. Multiple matches have been confirmed for the January 4 event.
