A shock title change took place on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown.
As seen on the December 6th episode of SmackDown, Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano defeated The Motor City Machine Guns to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions, winning the titles for a second time. The match was originally set to see The Street Profits challenge for the titles but was changed when Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins were attacked backstage.
The finish of the match saw Gargano & Ciampa continue their tension with another blow-up. As Ciampa exited the ring, Gargano suddenly hit a low blow on Chris Sabin. Alex Shelley entered the ring to argue with Gargano only to be hit with a superkick. Revealing the spat to be a ruse, DIY then hit their finish on Sabin for the win.
The victory brings Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin’s reign to an end at just 42 days. The Motor Coty Machine Guns first won the titles in shocking fashion by defeating The Bloodline in what was just their third match on SmackDown. DIY previously held the championships for 28 days back in July.
What Else Happened On WWE SmackDown?
Focusing on the fallout from Survivor Series, the show saw The New Bloodline look to re-establish their dominance by attacking Andrade and LA Knight. Additionally, the continuation of the Women’s United States Championship took place and Cody Rhodes defeated Chad Gable in the main event.
