AEW Worlds End 2025 had a newsworthy ending as a new World Champion was crowned in the main event of the show.
When all was said and done in the final match of the show, MJF emerged the victor over former champion Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland and Adam Page to capture the top prize in All Elite restling a second time. The closing moments of the match saw Adam Page hit Samoe Joe with 2 Buckshot Lariats. However, as Page went for the third, MJF hit a low blow onto Page before hitting the Heatseeker onto Joe to win the match and the title.
The match was originally advertised as a triple threat match between Joe, Strickland and Page. However, at the Holiday Bash special in Manchester, MJF made his return from hiatus and utilised his Casino Gauntlet opportunity to insert himself into the match, looking to prove that he could win the match against the odds.
The victory brings Joe’s reign to an end, which began back at Full Gear when he defeated Page in a steel cage match thanks to interference from The Opps, who also factored into the Worlds End match, but were fought off by Strickland and Page.
MJF has only competed in 14 matches in 2025, as he has been focused on Hollywood projects.
MJF Ends 2025 As New AEW World Champion Following Worlds End Victory
The victory is the inverse of what happened back in 2023, which saw MJF lose the World Championship to Samoa Joe, and in the process bring his 406-day reign to an end, which is also the longest in company history. MJF is also set to appear on the next episode of Dynamite, which will air on New Year’s Eve.
