Multiple surprise appearances in the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble matches have been reportedly revealed.
One reason why fans love the Royal Rumble so much is because of the surprise entrants. As has been seen in the past, injured Superstars can return, departed Superstars can make their shock return to the company or a Hall of Famer can make a brief appearance for a great nostalgia reaction. According to a new report, one of each of these categories appears to be the case.
As reported by PWInsider, WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman, also known as X-Pac, has been spotted around the Performance Center in recent weeks. It has been previously speculated that this is leading to a surprise return in the iconic Battle Royal and will be Waltman’s first WWE match since 2002.
The second reported return is a former Women’s Champion who has been absent for 6 months. Currently recovering from shoulder surgery, Liv Morgan is also expected to make her return in the Rumble match.
The final name listed is one who left WWE back in 2022. Currently wrestling in TNA, Trinity [FKA Naomi] is reportedly due to make her return to the promotion imminently. Trinity currently reigns as the Knockouts Champion and is scheduled to defend the title against Jordynne Grace at the Hard To Kill pay-per-view. Many are expecting Grace to defeat Trinity to set up the surprise Rumble return.
It is also noted that as Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida is only a short drive away from the WWE Performance Center, surprise entrants from NXT are also highly likely.
WWE Royal Rumble Confirmed Entrants, Date & More
At the time of writing, 8 Superstars have been confirmed for Royal Rumble matches, 4 male and 4 female Superstars. Many are expected to be confirmed in the run-up to the Premium Live Event, although fans are vocally asking the confirmed Superstars to be limited to allow for maximum surprises. The event will be live on Peacock and the WWE Network on Saturday, January 27th.
