MJF has stated that he is still yet to commit to a new deal.
The AEW World Champion constantly maintained that he would let his contract run out on January 1st 2024 and would let the biggest wrestling companies to him. However, as reported back in November, all was not as it first seemed in “The bidding war of 2024” as MJF had reportedly signed a new deal with AEW a long while ago, potentially as far back as summer 2022. According to the AEW World Champion, those reports are incorrect.
Speaking on the SI Media podcast, MJF is adamant that he has not signed a new deal and it is nothing more than internet rumours:
I’ve been saying the same thing [about my contract expiration date]. I never lied. January 1st, 2024. When stuff like that gets leaked out, it makes me laugh because I remember something leaked out about Cody [Rhodes] having secretly re-signed and then he showed up [in WWE]. Something got leaked out about, you know, CM Punk and Tony Khan or you know… I think fans leak out things that they want to be true. I love AEW, I wanna stay in AEW. After this pay-per-view [Worlds End], it’s time to assess the situation for a professional setting. So… not yet [I haven’t re-signed].
Will MJF Remain Champion By 2024?
Having won the title in November 2022, MJF has already held the championship for over a year and only has a few days to go before the year comes to a close. However, one final obstacle remains for the generational talent as he is set to face Samoa Joe once again at Worlds End on December 30th.
