Matt Riddle Announces WWE Exit

Matt Riddle is no longer a part of WWE.

Riddle took to social media to announce that he has departed the company and thanked the fans for their support during his time with WWE:

Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon.

The former United States Champion joins multiple main roster and NXT Superstars who have been released from WWE in September 2023.

As reported by Fightful Select, Riddle has not been seen backstage in WWE for a number of weeks. At the start of September, the former Tag Team Champion alleged that an officer at JFK Airport sexually assaulted him, resulting in an internal investigation being launched and Riddle being removed from the September 11th episode of Raw. It was later concluded that the accusations made by Riddle were untrue.

The Fightful report also states that Riddle was never factored into creative for the September 18th episode of Raw and was never planned for a return. The report concludes with a WWE higher up stating that Riddle had “burned through too many chances” whilst with the company.

Prior to the JFK incident, Riddle had real life issues with Seth Rollins and was also suspended after failing a drug test, which required a stay in rehab.

Following a run in NXT, Riddle debuted on the main roster in June 2020, defeating AJ Styles in his debut appearance. Riddle would be best known for his partnership with Randy Orton, known collectively as RK-Bro.
