CM Punk was once again the victim of an attack that cost him his victory in a major match, this time from a masked man who interfered in the Men’s WarGames match.
The World Heavyweight Champion was in action in the main event of Survivor Series as he teamed with Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and The Usos to take on the team of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. The closing moments of the match saw the masked attacker scale the cage and enter the match to deliver a superkick and stomp to Punk. Breakker capitalised on the interference to hit a spear and pin Punk to win the match for his team. The heels celebrated after the match as pyro went off, but the attacker did not reveal their identity. A dejected Reigns also showed little regard to Punk and Rhodes, indicating that he is one again looking to be a champion.
This is yet another big match that Punk has seen not go his way. Back at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract shortly after Punk won the title from Gunther to end his reign at just over 5 minutes. Facing Rollins for the title as part of a 4-way match at Clash in Paris, Punk looked to have the match won, but was hit with a low blow by Becky Lynch to allow her husband to remain champion.
Who Was The Masked Man That Attacked CM Punk?
Although commentary speculated that the mystery man could be Seth Rollins, given that his signature moves were hit, a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select is claiming that the attacker is Austin Theory, who has not been seen on main roster TV since May 2025.
