The return of John Cena has been announced for the July 18 WWE SmackDown.
In what will be the latest stop on the John Cena retirement tour, the 17-time World Champion will be appearing live ahead of his next title defence at SummerSlam against Cody Rhodes, who will also be appearing live on the show. With both men under the same roof, another confrontation is expected between champion and challenger.
While the Cena and Rhodes segment is the only thing officially announced at the time of writing, this will also be the first SmackDown following Saturday Night’s Main Event and WWE Evolution, which will take place on July 12 and July 1,3, respectively. With multiple championships at stake across the weekend, along with LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton and Tiffany Stratton vs. Trish Stratus, the fallout from the shows will be the heavy focus.
