Lex Luger has been officially announced as the latest WWE Hall of Fame inductee and will be honoured over WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas.
The news was announced by WWE on March 7th, with Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes surprising the WWE legend at the DDPY Performance Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Interrupting a workout, Rhodes made the announcement to Luger and DDP that The Total Package would be inducted at the 2025 ceremony. Luger, who has been confined to a wheelchair for nearly 2 decades, rose out of his chair to hug Rhodes following the announcement. Luger has been working with DDP over the past year to improve his mobility after being paralysed following a 2007 accident.
An induction that many have called for over the years and one of the most long overdue announcements, Lugar was one of the biggest stars in wrestling in the 1990s. Although highlights from his WWE run include slamming Yokozuna on the USS Intrepid, defeating Yokozuna at SummerSlam 1993 and being a co-winner of the 1994 Royal Rumble with Bret Hart, it was in WCW where Luger found the most success.
Shockingly making his return to WCW on the first episode of Nitro, Luger went on to defeat Hulk Hogan on Nitro in 1997 to win the World Heavyweight Championship. While with the company, Luger won the top title twice and the United States Championship 5 times.
Lex Luger Joins 2025 Hall Of Fame Class
Luger is officially the third inductee following previous announcements that Triple H and Michelle McCool would also be recognised for their contributions to the industry in April.
