The battery case against WWE star Ludwig Kaiser will move forward following the latest motion by the judge presiding over the proceedings.
A hearing regarding the motion took place on October 19, and court documents have listed the motion as “denied.” The next step is a pre-trial scheduled for December 17. From there, both parties will either come to an agreement, or the case will move forward to a trial regarding the incident that occurred in Florida.
For his defence, Kaiser, real name Marcel Barthel, attempted to use Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law. The law is that a justified amount of force can be used for self-defence, which Barthel claimed he used against alleged victim Richard Reap.
Judge Says That Ludwig Kaiser Case Can Move Forward
The incident in question took place back in April. Kaiser and his girlfriend Andre Bazarte were being affectionate in a lift, which both sides have agreed did happen. From there, differing accounts state what led to the physical altercation.
Reap claims that he asked the couple to have some manners, which led to the attack. Kaiser claims that Reap swore at him and his girlfriend, adding that Reap made a racist remark about calling ICE on Bazarte. Kaiser has admitted pushing Reap, but only after Reap aggressively approached him.
A CD and photos were listed as evidence, which is believed to be security camera footage. The original arrest report noted that Reap was seen being punched and pushed.
While Barthel has not appeared on WWE TV for months as Ludwig Kaiser, he has portrayed the masked wrestler El Grande Americano. As well as having one of the biggest rivalries of the year with the “original” El Grande Americano [Chad Gable], Americano aslo reigns as the AAA Mega Champion.
